Recurring Expenses — Zoho Books demo teardown (2026-06-21)

Captured live from the Zoho Books demo (zoho.com/ca/books/accounting-software-demo/#/recurringexpenses) to build Caesar’s Recurring Expenses module. Recurring Expenses is a distinct Purchases area, separate from Recurring Bills, and uses a single expense-account model (NOT a line-item table like a bill).

Menu position

Purchases ▸ Vendors · Expenses · Recurring Expenses · Bills · Payments Made · Recurring Bills · Vendor Credits. (Recurring Expenses sits right after Expenses — it is the recurring form of an Expense.)

List view

Columns: Profile Name · Expense Account · Vendor Name · Frequency · Last Expense Date · Next Expense Date · Status · Amount.

• View filter: “All Profiles” (+ status filters Active/Stopped/Expired in our build).
• Header action: New Recurring Expense. Row → profile detail.
• Statuses: ACTIVE (terminal recurring set: Active / Stopped / Expired).

Detail view

• Header: profile name + status + Edit · More (More = Stop/Resume · Clone · Delete) + New Recurring Expense.
• Tabs: Overview · All Expenses (All Expenses = the generated expense documents).
• Overview — KPI row: Expense Amount · Repeats (frequency) · Next Expense Date.
• Expense details: Expense Account · Paid Through · Start On · Ends On (Goes on forever / date).
• Other details: Exchange Rate · Customer (billable) · Payable To (Vendor) · Notes.
• History: activity log.

Caesar mapping (built 2026-06-21)

New dedicated module: RECEXP array; screens scr-recexpenses / scr-recexpense / scr-recexpense-form; functions openRecExpenses/recExpListHTML/recExpRenderRows/recExpFiltered/openRecExpenseOne/recExpDetailHTML/openRecExpenseForm/recExpFormHTML/saveRecExpense/recExpAction/recExpBulk + helpers recExpById/recExpVendName/recExpCustName/recExpTotal. Sidebar item Recurring Expenses replaces the dead “Requisitions” item; Quick-Create “Recurring Expense” → openRecExpenseForm(); breadcrumb trail recexpenses. Reporting Tags omitted (Caesar uses the native segment spine, not free-form tags — consistent with the rest of the build). The two expense profiles that previously lived in the combined Recurring Bills list were migrated here, and Recurring Bills is now bills-only (Type column / Bill-vs-Expense view filters / Type select removed).
